International Competition.....

Bainbridge Cup History written by IFP

Bainbridge Island – Pickleball’s Birthplace
It was on Bainbridge Island (known as Bainbridge by the locals) where Joel Pritchard, Barney McCallum and Bill Bell created the sport we know today as pickleball. While residing at Bainbridge in the summer of 1965, the three founders collaborated to create and design a new racquet sport that everyone could play and enjoy. Thus the name “Bainbridge Cup” was chosen to pay tribute to both the founding fathers and the birthplace of pickleball – the origins of a sport that is now played by millions of people around the world

Team North America competed against Team Europe on a global stage in Madrid, Spain on September 15th. The inaugural Bainbridge Cup is hosted by the International Federation of Pickleball. This  event was unique in that included all ages and skill levels

North American (USA/Canada) had 200 wins and Europe had 102

BATTLE OF THE SEXES

Written by Jennifer Lucore and posted on her Blog:

We all witnessed (or know of) the iconic 1973 Battle of the Sexes between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Inspired by the new “Battle of the Sexes” movie now in theaters, we have our very our PICKLEBALL Battle of the Sexes on October 7th, at Bobby Riggs Tennis Center in Southern California!

On October 7th at 2:00pm PST, #1 singles players Scott Moore & Simone Jardim will go head to head in a historic match at the Bobby Riggs Tennis Club and Museum in Encinitas, CA.

In addition to what promises to be an epic match, 50% of the proceeds will go to both St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the approved charity of the USAPA, and hurricane relief in the United States.

Not only is this an awesome pro vs pro match up, it will also be a live, televised Pay Per View program! For more information on watching the livestream, click here.
