Court Schedule Revised

A lot of  club information was provided at this month's club meeting
A large number of members attended

Douglas Duncombe,  Director of the Court Utilization Committee, talked about the schedule revisions and had new player cards, for attendees to take with them.    For those of you who were not at the meeting, you may want to print out the new schedule and player cards, or pick yours up at the Welcome Table.
We are fortunate to have Douglas and the CUC dedicate the time to make the schedule fair for all!
Committee Members:
5.0/4.5  Ladies - Carol Lindow
5.0/4.5 Men  - Randy Bourne and Ross Perkin
4.0 Ladies - Mary Duncan
4.0 Men - Mark Nelson
3.5 Ladies - Suzanne Scott
3.5 Men - David Batten
3.0 Ladies - Kate Perrie
3.0 Men - Robert O'Donnell
2.5/3.0 Ladies - Mavis Heath

The Official Announcement:
Changes to the Organized Play Round Robin Schedule. You must check to see if you are impacted by these changes.

Due to the increase of players at certain skill levels, the Board requested the Court Utilization Committee (CUC) look at the Organized Play Schedule and recommend possible revisions to accommodate growth. It is important to note that these changes were made to allow more people to play. As a result some Round Robins were assigned more courts and some were moved to different times to give them more courts. We remain, as always, dedicated to assuring Open Play Courts are available for our members during the hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m., as well as a fair distribution of round robins and shootouts for all player skill levels based on the number of players in that skill level.
The Director of the CUC and its committee members in consultation with the Round Robin Captains, work many hours to construct a fair schedule based on the number of members in our club. Currently, 69% of our membership plays at the 3.0 and 3.5 skill level. The CUC made every effort to change the schedule with as few disruptions to people's schedules as possible. The Board has approved the changes recommended by the CUC. One of the changes you will note, is the addition of back-to-back round robins in the same level. The intent of the revision is to allow for the maximum number of participants in each scheduled Round Robin. We ask that you do not participate in both sessions of the same skill level so that everyone gets an opportunity to participate.

Changes in days and times impact: Women's Partners 3.5, 3.0/3.5 Couples, 3.5/4.0 Couples, 3.0 Women, 2.0 Mixed and 3.5 Men's Rated.

We often have to adjust the schedule half way through the season. This adjustment should be sufficient to see us through until the end of March. The Player Cards have been revised to reflect the new schedule and are available at the Courts as well as on the Blog.  To view and/or print the entire CUC schedule, the Daily Court Schedules or Player Cards, click on any of the following links.

If you have concerns or comments, please direct them to the Club's Board or the CUC members. The volunteers of the Court Utilization Committee are commissioned with the responsibility to assure your pickleball play at Palm Creek is the best it can be. Thank you all for all your support and flexibility.
The new schedule will begin Monday, January 23, 2017.

Reminders....

January 10th is the last day to order your club shirts in order to have them for the Member tournament. Shirts may be tried on for size and ordered on January 10th from 10:00-2:00 in Sonora South. You can fill out an order form there or print one here and drop it off. Times will be posted on the Blog with regard to picking up your shirts in early February. A second order will be placed as well. Darlene and Sally are the co-chairs and their site #'s can be found on the order form.
Our January General Meeting will be held in the Ballroom on Wednesday, January 18th from 4:00-5:00 pm.  We encourage all members to attend to get information about what is happening in the club off the courts.
Our Member Tournament is approaching rapidly. The dates for play are February 6th-8th. Registration closes January 27th. This is our tournament for our members only. If you have never played in a tournament, this is a good place to get a feeling for what it is like. Play against your friends in your skill and age level. Talk with your round robin captain or any Tournament Committee member. You can access more detailed information regarding the tournament by clicking here. PLEASE NOTE: The Tournament Committee will have a table set up prior to the General Meeting at 3:00 to assist you in registering for the tournament or to answer any of your questions. You will need a credit card for online payment, your pickleballtournaments.com login and password (if you have one). It would also be helpful if you have a tablet or laptop you are familiar with as the committee will only have two on site.

Your pickleball club functions because of volunteering. The Park provides the courts but everything that happens there on a day-to-day basis is done by club members volunteering their time.  Whether it is Round Robin Captains, Mentors, Membership or Welcome Table, training clinics, tournaments, court washing, putting balls on the courts or the many other behind the scenes work, it is all done by club members volunteering their valuable time.  When you get a request to volunteer, please consider if you can contribute a couple of hours on a one-time or regular basis to support your club.  Without your time, things don't happen.

See you at the General Meeting,
Palm Creek Pickleball Club Board of Directors

Welcome

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Palm Creek Pickleball Club. With our membership approaching 900+ and 32 courts, we can seem a bit overwhelming. We have many tools and links you may find helpful and informative. Many of those links and websites are listed and described below. Please feel free to contact any of us for further information. See you on the courts!!
You can find a wealth of information on our Blog. Visit our Blogspot! and see our current calendar with upcoming events, tournament information, club minutes, bylaws and policies, officers and directors, our organized play schedule and much more.
Another source of information is our national association, USA Pickleball Association. Click here to learn about the USAPA and how to become a member. Our Assistant Regional Director, Rosemary Reese, is a member of our club and can be reached at click here

Our Facebook page has many pictures and updates on daily activities.  Visit often. "Like us" on our Facebook page.
To find the contact information for our club officers, board members, committee chairs and directors, click here.
We have developed two handouts that are also available at the courts. For an overview of our sport and pertinent information about our club click here. This brochure explains our Club Bulletin Boards referred to as "Big Blue" and "Big Green" (previously called Big Blue North and Big Blue South). Big Blue is used for information for levels 2.0 through 3.0. Big Green is for levels 3.5 through 5.0. Our Organized Play handout is a guideline explaining how to get involved in our Round Robins, Shootouts, tournaments and training. Click here for an electronic copy of that handout. Please be sure to visit the "Big Bulletin Boards" at the courts. Much of this information is also posted on the boards.
The next two handouts are designed for both viewing as well as printing.  To see our entire Organized Play Schedule by level and day of the week, click here. For an individual "player card" for any specific level, click here.

Click on the following links to review some important Club policies:

To learn about our Rating Information and Procedures, click here. This link also contains information on Skill Level Definitions and Expectations.
In addition to informational emails such as this, you will also be added to our SignUp Genius roster. Our club uses SignUp Genius (SUG) to notify members of training clinics and other activities undertaken by the club throughout the season including soliciting volunteers for the Members tournament and Duel in the Desert. If you share an email with another club member, only one of you will receive email notifications. Because only one of you will be recognized by SUG and the associated skill level used to determine which training clinics to invite you to, one person may be left out of training invites. Even though you can both sign up for things from this single email, difficulty arises if you are not the same skill level. The remedy for this is to have separate email addresses. We can help you set up an additional address, if required, at one of the drop in sessions. If your skill level changes, please contact the club secretary, here to change your level in order to receive appropriate training notices. To contact our training team for SignUp Genius issues, send us an email. For a SUG tutorial, go here. We will also hold periodic drop in sessions where we will help you with any issues you may have with your specific computer, phone or tablet. Check out the blog calendar for those times and locations.
Please plan to attend our General Meetings. They are held monthly on a Wednesday, at 4:00 pm in the Ballroom. Specific dates are listed on the calendar on the blog.
Again, Welcome!!!
