2019 Duel in the Desert

When you think it can't get any better,  The Best Gets Better !

The Sun was shining, the weather was perfect for Players and Spectators.
Each day the tournament ran without a hitch.
It takes a great deal of organization and experience to have a tournament of this size run this well.   

Total number of players -  817 - An 11% increase over last year!
Number of Palm Creek players 168+ (PC players listing a different Home Club not included)
Palm Creek PB Club medalists 46 - Of these, 7 players won 2 medals

Fun Fact - Bracket with the largest increase 4.5 Womens Doubles +118%!!

Duel in the Desert is a Tier 2, Sanctioned Tournament
We were the first club in the country to receive this Tier Level in 2012! 

Playing in our tournament, qualifies a player to play in Nationals!


The Referees
Our Club from its inception has had a referee training program. This program has grown and without question, we have the best Referee Training Program in the country//1
By the Numbers:
105 Referees officiated matches during the four day tournament.
1,092 Matches were refereed.
8 Certified Referee Candidates were evaluated during the tournament.
1 Certified Referee Evaluator was trained and evaluated during the tournament.
4 Total number of Certified Referee Evaluators present at the tournament. 
   (Note: Only 9 USAPA Evaluators worldwide)

The Line Judges
Our club was the first in the Nation to create Line Judge Teams. 
By the Numbers:
84 trained line judges formed 19 teams to officiate 100 medal matches!
