New Court Update

The stake shown is one of many that have placed in the new court area by the surveyors
The new court area is quiet. As discussed at our general meetings, Palm Creek is obligated to do road work on Cottonwood prior to doing other work.  On a trip to the mall, it was evident that work on Cottonwood is active.  Cones run from our back gate all the way to the overpass; speed has been reduced to 35mph.  Pictures of dirt moving are just not all that interesting!

Court Progress

There are times when progress is not exciting but necessary. Fencing has been installed to secure the new area. If you look closely you will see per code all the soil is being watered.  These are the "costly" incidentals that are often overlooked when construction is is under way.

The Game Changers

The Growth of Pickleball is and always has been a grass roots movement.  According to the USAPA from March 2010 to March 2012  an additional 581 places have been added to places to play! The growth of the sport is amazing but not surprising.  It is not only a sport, this game is a friendship builder, like no other that we have seen.

Club member Marg Ouimet loves the game but is also missing her Palm Creek friends.  Marg e-mailed me the following with the hope, that if you are in the area or just passing through that you will e-mail her and set up some play time

Parkland Pickleheads have launched 4 Outdoor Courts in Spruce Grove, Alberta! We are located at Henry Singer Sports Park in Spruce Grove, a short 20 minute drive from Edmonton, AB and the courts are up and running now! You can check us out at www.facebook.com/sprucegrovepickleball for more information or contact Marg Ouimet at MargOuimet@gmail.com , come and see what all the laughter is about!

You may have seen the article on the USAPA website about the new courts in Rossford Ohio. What the article does not tell you is that it is our very own Al Hager who masterminded the project and did all the work with help one other club member Tom Wells, amazing as to what can be accomplished with $13,000 and a lot of sweat equity in 7 days!  If your traveling in the area, check their site for more information, Al says they are really a great group of players http://toledopickleball1.wordpress.com

This months USAPA newsletter

Thanks to Mark for getting our club some notariety in this months USAPA newsletter, by  announcing our new pickleball facility!

Palm Creek to Get New 24-Court Facility…Submitted by Mark Nelson, President, Palm Creek Pickleball Club, Casa Grande, Arizona

The Palm Creek Pickleball Club plans to have 24 new courts by November 1 of this year. In 12 years we have grown to 12 courts and almost 600 players. Our organized play, including round robins, training, ladders and open time, fills the current courts to capacity. Recognizing the rapid growth and popularity of pickleball, Palm Creek Resort management knew that new pickleball courts would be a huge draw to help fill the planned 210 additional home and RV sites. They worked with the club to design an outstanding facility. In addition to ample playing area, fences will surround each court. But the highlight is the four courts that will be three feet lower than the rest of the facility for improved viewing. These will be used for medal matches during tournaments. Other amenities include restrooms, a snack bar with viewing platform, Internet access and a picnic pavilion.
